Since 2008

Paws for Good is the social impact engine born from the core belief that has guided Whiskers N Paws: the bond with our pets teaches us to be better people. This idea is our North Star.

It started in 2008 when Vada founded Whiskers N Paws with a vision: to provide better nutrition for pets and give a voice to animals in need of adoption. This mission evolved into Paws for Good, formalized in 2023 to strengthen support for shelters and registered as an official charity in 2025.

We are dedicated to turning this belief into action. We are driven to empower the bond between pets and people through knowledge, access, and innovation.

We bring this mission to life by creating targeted systems and solutions for the companion animal community, including:

Building a centralized online adoption platform in collaboration with local shelters.
Providing medical support for pets within the shelter system.
Organizing children's education programs on how pets nurture empathy.

This journey began with a small act of kindness.

During founder Vada Chung's childhood, she rescued her first puppy and that experience revealed a profound truth: pets are powerful connectors, bringing joy and building community through the bond they share with people.

The Whiskers N Paws (WNP) store

This belief inspired Whiskers N Paws, a place created to celebrate that connection. It grew into a vibrant hub where pet lovers could find quality products and share their experiences.

From this community emerged a shared desire to extend this impact. Paws for Good was founded as the dedicated charitable arm, turning collective compassion into action.

Let us look back at this journey

Founded in 2008

Whiskers N Paws partnered with Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) that same year to launch the city's first regular puppy adoption day, held every Sunday until today. What started with a few puppies in a simple plastic ring evolved into Asia's first permanent in-store adoption area. Till now, 1,900+ puppies have found homes through WNP.

Since 2013

The annual "Operation Santa Paws" program collects donations through community partners at Christmas for distribution to local animal shelters. To date, it has provided over 18,000 kg of food and 3,000 kg of supplies.

In 2015

A dedicated cat adoption center was launched in partnership with Kirsten's Zoo. This collaboration later evolved into an ongoing relationship with Lifelong Animal Protection (LAP). Till now, 900+ puppies have found homes through WNP.

Since 2018

A self-service dog wash area has operated with 100% of proceeds directed toward community-based animal welfare efforts.

In 2019

A small animal adoption area was created in partnership with the SPCA. The program was retired during the COVID-19 pandemic due to a significant rise in community adoptions, which made the dedicated space unnecessary.

2023

Paws For Good as a monthly program was established. The initiative encourages donations to local rescue centers and animal related NGOs by rewarding contributors with WNP shopping vouchers. As of 2025, the program has raised over HK$400,000 for its partner centers.

Since the establishment of WNP

Continuously supporting various large and small stray animal shelters over the years. Partnering with over 15 animal welfare organizations in Hong Kong to organize and support activities and workshops to raise public awareness of animal welfare, including holding adoption days every Sunday at the Ap Lei Chau store in cooperation with Hong Kong Dog Rescue.

2025

Officially registered as a charitable organization (Inland Revenue Department file number: 91/19627).

We are committed to ensuring that 100% of public donations directly fund our charitable projects.

Paws for Good operates entirely independently from Whiskers N Paws. To guarantee transparency, an independent third-party audit report is published annually on our website and social media channels.
